Ashley Biden files for divorce from Dr. Howard Krein

Former first daughter Ashley Biden has filed for divorce from her husband of 13 years.

The daughter of former president and first lady Joe and Jill Biden met Dr. Howard Krein through her late brother Beau Biden, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer, which first reported the divorce filing.

Ashley Biden’s rep confirmed she had filed divorce papers on Monday in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. The two married on June 2, 2012. While Biden herself did not comment, she posted an Instagram story the same day with the Beyoncé song “Freedom” as the soundtrack, The Inquirer said. Ashley Biden is 44 and Krein is 58.

When she married, her then vice president father approved.

“This is the right guy,” he said. “And he’s getting a helluva woman.”
