Bannon calls for special prosecutor to investigate Epstein files

President Trump’s former chief strategist Steve Bannon is calling for a special prosecutor to investigate the federal files on late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The MAGA provocateur says he’s disappointed the Justice Department under President Trump has essentially reached the same conclusions as previous investigators regarding the dealings of the disgraced financier.

Despite numerous officials insisting Epstein died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges, many ring-wing conspiracy theorists have continued to push the belief that he was murdered in a coverup to protect a “client list” of pedophiles.

On Thursday’s episode of his “War Room” podcast, Bannon said that embattled Attorney General Pam Bondi “needs to go to the court and ask for a complete unsealing of all the files” pertaining to Epstein, pursuant to a lawsuit filed by the right-wing activist group Judicial Watch.

Bannon said the appointment of a special prosecutor to put fresh eyes on the Epstein investigation “should be done immediately.”

Bondi and her Justice Department colleagues angered much of Trump’s MAGA base on Monday by claiming Epstein kept no client list implicating wealthy figures in his alleged child sex trafficking.

Earlier this year, Trump-appointed FBI officials threw cold water on the long-running rumors that the 66-year-old deviant was killed in a “deep state” plot to prevent him from flipping on the powerbrokers he facilitated.

The Justice Department’s willingness to close the case on Epstein prompted many MAGA loyalists to question whether Trump — a former Epstein party pal — has something to hide.

“Time to drop the really big bomb: @RealDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files,” Trump mega-donor Elon Musk posted on social media in June. “That is the real reason they have not been made public.”

Musk later deleted that post, but claimed on Tuesday that “Bannon is in the Epstein files.”

The billionaire entrepreneur famous for spreading misinformation offered no evidence to support his allegations against Bannon or Trump.

Trump didn’t help his own case at a Tuesday Cabinet meeting where he snapped at a reporter for asking about the Epstein investigation.

“Are people still talking about this guy?” the president fumed. “That is unbelievable.”
