Bette Midler serenades Stephen Colbert with song, shades Trump

Bette Midler never misses an opportunity to shade Donald Trump.

The “Hocus Pocus” actress, took a jab at the president, 79, while serenading Stephen Colbert on “The Late Show” Tuesday night.

“I wrote a little something for you. It’s kind of a proclamation,” Midler told Colbert, 61, before she sang him a song with rewritten lyrics to her 1988 hit “Wind Beneath My Wings.”

“It must have been cold here at the ‘Late Show’ / Despite the high ratings and awards,“ Midler sang, referencing the cancellation of his CBS show.

”You need a gig that’s more worthwhile / Now that you’re more in demand than Epstein’s file,” Midler continued.

The Oscar nominee referenced Colbert’s love for “The Lord of the Rings,” singing, “Did you ever know that you’re my Frodo? You stand for what’s right with wit and class.”

Then, Midler went after Trump whom she’s been a longtime critic of.

“And I hold you high as the great eagles / Because you never kissed the orange a–,” Midler sang, as Colbert and the audience laughed.

Midler kept singing “you never kissed the orange a–” a few more times, before she invited the crown to sing the line with her.

“Fly, fly away! Like Gandalf’s golden wings / Thank you, thank you, thank God for you, the Lord of all our rings,” Midler sang to conclude her song.

Colbert hugged Midler and told her he loves her, before joking, “Well everybody, thank you for joining us for our last show.”

CBS decided in July to cancel Colbert’s show after 10 years of being on the air. The series will end in May 2026.

The network has publicly cited financial reasons behind the decision to ax the show.

Notably, the announcement came just days after Colbert — is one of President Trump’s most persistent late-night critics — had ripped a $16 million settlement that Paramount, the parent company of CBS, had reached with the Trump administration.

Midler, for her part, has not held back her feelings about Trump over the years.

She campaigned for Kamala Harris and implied on X she’d drink a bottle of Drano if Trump won the 2024 presidential election last year.

After Trump was elected the 47th president of the United States on Nov. 5, Midler deactivated her X account.

Midler also went after Melania Trump on social media during her 2020 Republican National Convention, calling the president’s wife an “illegal alien” who “can’t speak English.”

But Midler later apologized for her remarks about Melania, 55, tweeting: “Well, all hell has broken loose because I said Melania ‘still can’t speak English’ last night. I was wrong to make fun of her accent. America is made up people who speak with all kinds of accents, and they are all welcomed always.”
