Beyoncé to perform at halftime of NFL Christmas Day game

Beyoncé will perform at halftime of an NFL Christmas Day game between the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans.

The “Texas Hold ‘Em” artist will play in her hometown of Houston at the Texans’ NRG Stadium. The 4:30 p.m. game and halftime show will stream live on Netflix.

Beyoncé’s halftime show performance will be the first time she plays songs live from her newest album, “Cowboy Carter,” according to Netflix. The album was recently nominated for 11 Grammys, but Beyoncé has not announced any accompanying tour.

The halftime show performance will include unspecified “special guests” who are featured on “Cowboy Carter,” Netflix announced Sunday night. The album’s featured artists include Miley Cyrus, Post Malone and Shaboozey with spoken interludes by Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson and Linda Martell.

Beyoncé announced the performance by sharing a video on social media in which she stands on a car hood covered in rose petals and catches a football while her song “AMERIICAN REQUIEM” plays in the background.

This will not be the first time Beyoncé performs at halftime of an NFL game. In February 2013, she headlined the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show and reunited with Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams from Destiny’s Child.

Three years later, Beyoncé again performed as part of the Super Bowl 50 halftime show. That show was headlined by Coldplay, and Bruno Mars also featured.

About five years ago, the NFL partnered with Beyoncé’s husband, Jay-Z, and his company Roc Nation to help produce Super Bowl halftime shows. That partnership was recently extended.

Though the NFL has played games on Christmas Day before, the league took an extraordinary step in 2024 by moving two games to the holiday, even though it falls on a Wednesday. Before the Ravens-Texans game, the Pittsburgh Steelers will face the Kansas Chiefs at 1 p.m.
