Who you gonna call but Bill Murray to crash a set?
The “Ghostbusters” actor, known for interrupting events such as a White House press briefing, bachelor party, and even a couple’s engagement photoshoot, was at it again on Wednesday when he crashed a piano player’s concert.
Murray, 74, was an audience member at Bemelmans Bar, inside the famed Carlyle Hotel on the Upper East Side, listening to the tunes of singing jazz pianist Robert Mosci when he felt the need to join in.
“I didn’t know he was coming. The way it unfolded was quickly and funny,” the accosted pianist, Robert Mosci, told The Post.
“He came over to me and he said, ‘Hey, do you know the song ‘Brandy?’”
Mosci confessed he never played it before, but Murray remained undeterred.
“He said, ‘Well, the guy who wrote it is here. His name’s Elliot Lurie, and if you could do it, that would be great,’” Mosci, a Queens native who now lives on Staten Island, recalled.
To appease him, Mosci — who was playing a set but was in between songs — quickly purchased the sheet music to “Brandy (You’re A Fine Girl)” via an app on his phone for the 1972 chart-topping song by the New Jersey pop-rock band Looking Glass.
“And I started to sing it. And then like three seconds later, Bill Murray’s screaming in my ear into the microphone,” he said. “It was so loud. In hindsight, I should have just given him the microphone.”
Lurie, who was the lead singer of Looking Glass, also joined in on the group singalong.
“Everybody in Bemelmans had a great time. It was a lot of fun,” Mosci said.
The former “Saturday Night Live” star is well known around the hotel, so it wasn’t surprising that he was there that evening, Mosci said.
“He’s a regular in terms of when he’s in town, he stays at The Carlyle and he’s made a couple of movies in Bemelmans. He’s sort of on the inside with a lot of people who work there,” he explained.
Mosci, who has been playing at Bemelmans for 15 years, said he is used to the star-studded clientele the iconic venue attracts.
“We have celebrities in all the time. I mean, almost everybody you can think of has been in there,” he said.
“Tom Hanks was in six months ago, Scarlett Johansson. I’ve seen George Clooney, Bill Clinton, Jennifer Aniston, Bono, Al Pacino.”
He witnessed a surge in the upscale piano bar’s popularity after Prince Harry stayed at The Carlyle, a favorite of his mother, Princess Diana, with his wife, Meghan Markle, in 2021.
“It’s always been a popular place, but I think it really got hot a couple of years ago after the pandemic, when Prince Harry was there for a couple of days,” he said.
“It just sort of took off with a little bit of a younger crowd than we used to have.”
