Aaron Judge and Gerrit Cole won’t be the only stars in the Bronx this summer.
Billy Joel and Rod Stewart just announced a one-night only concert at Yankee Stadium on July 18.
This show classic rock fantasy will cement Joel, a Bronx native, as the only artist to have headlined at the old Yankee Stadium — the final game of which was played in September 2008 — and the new one.
“We are thrilled to host Billy Joel and Rod Stewart this summer at Yankee Stadium,” Scott Krug, the New York Yankees Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer said. “Their timeless catalogs and impact on the history of rock and roll music cannot be overstated, and we expect a magical evening with them in the Bronx.”
The last time Joel performed at the Yankees’ home field was on June 22-23, 1990 in the middle of his ‘Storm Front Tour,’ which stretched from October 1989 to March 1991. Both nights, he performed 23 tracks and closed his second encore with “Piano Man.” The subsequent concert film cobbled from footage of the two shows, “Billy Joel Live from Yankee Stadium,” is considered one of the greatest of all time.
While we don’t know what the timeless rockers have up their sleeve for this show — although we expect all the hits — we do know the best way to find out is live especially because Stewart will be in the middle of his farewell ‘One Last Time Tour.’
Tri-Staters unable to make this gig due to scheduling issues, you won’t have to worry too much about missing catching Joel live in 2025. He’ll also co-headline with Sting at Syracuse’s JMA Wireless Dome on Friday, April 11 and then alongside Stevie Nicks at MetLife Stadium on Friday, Aug. 8.
Fans can purchase tickets for the Billy Joel-Rod Stewart July 18 concert on sites like Vivid Seats; the official on-sale is Friday, Jan. 17.
Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.
They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.

Billy Joel new music
Joel dropped his first single in nearly two decades last February.
You can hear the simultaneously romantic, nostalgic, and anthemic “Turn The Lights Back On” here.
Rod Stewart new music
In February of last year, Rod Stewart dropped his 33rd studio album “Swing Fever” with Jools Holland.
Made up of 13 tracks, the record is a mostly successful genre experiment that allows Stewart to go full showman and front a snappy big band. To put it simply, imagine if one of the world’s greatest singers performed with an incredible wedding band and you get a clearer picture of what Sir Rod the Mod was going for here.
Highlights include the jaunty “Lullaby of Broadway,” goofy good time “Oh Marie” and classic “Pennies from Heaven.”
Don’t skip “Good Rockin’ Tonight,” either. It’s a kick off your shoes and get down kind of jam. Also, make sure to get to the minute-mark of Stewart’s “Ain’t Misbehavin’” cover, too. There’s an extended breakdown that will have you boogieing ’til dawn.
To hear for yourself, you can find “Swing Fever” here.
