Firerose is sharing her perspective on ex Billy Ray Cyrus.
After Trace Cyrus revealed that the family is “genuinely worried” about the country singer following his performance at President Trump’s Liberty Ball, his ex-wife spoke to Page Six.
“What’s being seen in public now reflects much of what I experienced in private during our relationship,” Firerose told the outlet Thursday.
“It’s very sad to see those same struggles continue for him, but I’m glad the truth is coming to light — for his potential good because healing is only possible when you confront the truth and accept there’s a problem.”
The 25-year-old shared that she remains “focused” on her “faith,” “music,” “healing” and using her “story to encourage others to find strength and hope.”
Billy Ray, 63, who was married to Firerose for a year from 2023 to 2024, sparked concern at Monday’s event in Washington, DC, after he tried to get through his set without backing music and at one point addressed the audience directly, asking if they wanted him to “just get the hell off the stage.”
Following the snafu, the “Achy Breaky Heart” artist issued a social media statement, blaming the equipment for what went wrong.
“I wouldn’t have missed the honor of playing this event whether my microphone, guitar and monitors worked or not. I was there because President Donald J. Trump invited me,” Billy Ray noted on Instagram.
He added, “I was there for the people and we had a blast. That’s called rock n roll!!!”
But, according to Trace Cyrus, who he adopted after marrying the musician’s mom, Tish Cyrus in 1993, the whole family doesn’t see it that way.
“Sadly the man that I wanted so desperately to be just like I barely recognize now,” the 35-year-old wrote via Instagram Wednesday. “It seems this world has beaten you down and it’s become obvious to everyone but you.”
He concluded in part, “I don’t know what you’re struggling with exactly but I think I have a pretty good idea & I’d love to help you if you would open up and receive the help. You know how to reach me. Till that day comes I will continue to pray for you.”
After Billy Ray’s divorce from Tish in 2022, the “Hannah Montana” alum and Firerose got married in October 2023. Seven months later, he filed for divorce, which was finalized in August 2024.
In Billy Ray’s divorce petition, he cited irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct as the reasons for their breakup. He also sought an annulment on the grounds of fraud.
“All I ever tried to do was love and trust this person, which was very ignorant of me,” the Australian singer told Stellar Magazine in 2024.
“I really wanted to believe that he was the good version of the man I’d fallen in love with.”
Despite not addressing Firerose or Trace’s accusations, Billy Ray announced on Friday that he has a new album coming out this summer that was produced by his son Braison.
