Billy Ray Cyrus’ family ‘worried’ after Trump inauguration

Trace Cyrus, son of country star Billy Ray Cyrus, said his family is “worried” and shared a heartfelt plea with his father following his chaotic performance at President Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday.

“Since my earliest memories all I can remember is being obsessed with you and thinking you were the coolest person ever,” he wrote in an Instagram post Wednesday night. “Sadly the man that I wanted so desperately to be just like I barely recognize now. It seems this world has beaten you down.”

This message comes after the 63 year old musician took the stage at President Trump’s inauguration, where he snapped at the audience due to a technical issue that caused his guitar to malfunction.

“Y’all want me to sing more or you just want me to get the hell off the stage? I don’t give a damn,” he said to the crowd.

Trace mentioned in his post that his sisters, Miley, Noah and Brandi Cyrus, have been “genuinely worried about you for years but you’ve pushed us all away.”

“You’re not healthy Dad and everyone is noticing it,” Trace added.

Though the 35-year-old didn’t go into detail about the issues he believes his father is struggling with, the Metro Station band member noted he had a “pretty good idea” and was hoping his father would be open to receiving help.

“Till that day comes I will continue to pray for you,” Trace concluded his post.

Billy Ray hasn’t publicly responded to Trace’s post, but released a statement defending his inauguration appearance, saying, “I wouldn’t have missed the honor of playing this event whether my microphone, guitar and monitors worked or not. I was there because President Donald J. Trump invited me.”

Although his daughter, Grammy winner Miley Cyrus, has also spoken publicly about her rocky relationship with her father, she’s also acknowledged being “grateful” for him.

“I also inherited the narcissism from my father,” she joked to David Letterman before adding, “I’m grateful for being able to watch him ahead of me. … There is a map of what to do and what not to do, and he’s guided me on both.”
