Billy Ray Cyrus makes first public appearance since inauguration performance, son’s public plea

Billy Ray Cyrus has been seen for the first time since his disastrous performance at one of President Donald Trump’s inaugural balls, which was closely followed by a public message of concern from his son.

Over the weekend, the “Achy Breaky Heart” hitmaker, 63, stepped out to attend the Nashville Humane Association’s Unleashed Dinner with Your Dog as the event’s celebrity guest.

After the soirée, the country crooner — who has been a longtime advocate for animal rescues — took to social media to share some snaps from the evening.

In his Instagram post, the singer said the association “asked me to attend its Unleashed gala tonight and of course I had to support.”

Cyrus, who adopted both of his dogs, Rain and Tommy Jack, from the association, continued, “If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t have Rain and Tommy Jack! What a wonderful evening with such an incredible organization, and to top it all off, Emmylou Harris! ❤️🐾”

The singer’s outing came just weeks after his controversial performance at President Donald Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20 made headlines for all the wrong reasons.

After taking to the stage just hours after Trump, 78, was sworn in as the 47th president, Cyrus had a huge meltdown over alleged technical difficulties.

He later insisted that his performance took a hit after his equipment went “to hell.”

Days later, his estranged son Trace Cyrus revealed that his family is “genuinely worried” about him and his well-being.

“I barely recognize you,” the former Metro Station rocker wrote on social media. “It seems this world has beaten you down and it’s become obvious to everyone but you.”

Trace added that the Cyrus family has been concerned about Billy Ray for years as he touched on their broken family dynamics.

“You may be upset with me for posting this, but I really could care less at this point. Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years but you’ve pushed all of us away,” the “Shake It” hitmaker wrote.

“Noah desperately has wanted you to be a part of her life, and you haven’t even been there for her,” he said, referring to his younger sister. “That’s your baby girl. She deserves better. Somehow just like me, she still idolizes you though.”

Miley Cyrus’ brother went on, “We are all hanging on to memories of the man we once knew and hoping for the day he returns. You’re not healthy, Dad and everyone is noticing it. Just like I showed up for you at Mamaw’s funeral when you didn’t expect me to, I’m still here right now.”

The crooner has since broken his silence following his son’s public plea, saying that he’s “praying” for his loved ones.

“Praying for my family. For my children … sons and daughters…and their mother,” he added, referring to his ex-wife Tish Cyrus in an Instagram post.

“Let this moment be the start of healing ❤️‍🩹 for us all. ‘The past does not equal the future.’ Amen 🙏🏼”
