“Boardwalk Empire” star Michael Pitt was arrested in Brooklyn last week for alleged sexual abuse and attacks against his ex-girlfriend.
The 44-year-old “Funny Games” actor has pleaded not guilty to all charges after he was arrested Friday night for assault injury with a weapon sexually motivated, strangulation sexually motivated, sex abuse and forcible compulsion, authorities told TMZ.
The indictment points to domestic incidents at the former couple’s Bushwick home between April 2020 and August 2021.
In one instance, Pitt allegedly fondled his ex, who has not been named, and months later is accused of having sexually assaulted her and hit her with a wooden plank.
The “Seven Psychopaths” actor is also accused of using cinder block to attack her on another occasion.
Pitt posted $100,000 bail and was released from custody, according to TMZ. He is due back in court on June 17.
His lawyer, Jason Goldman, dismissed the allegations as “baseless,” telling the Daily News: “Unfortunately, we live in a world where somebody like Mr. Pitt — an accomplished professional who would never so much as contemplate these crimes — can be arrested on the uncorroborated word of an unhinged individual.
“In reality, this baseless claim is suspiciously raised some four or five years after the alleged incident, at a time when the two parties were in a completely consensual and voluntary relationship,” continued Goldman. “This case will be dismissed.”
Pitt remains most well-known for his work in the 2000s and 2010s, from “The Dreamers,” the American shot-for-shot remake of the Austrian psychological thriller “Funny Games,” and, namely, his portrayal of Jimmy Darmody on HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire.”
Pitt hasn’t been seen on-screen since Netflix’s 2023 flick, “Reptile,” starring Benicio Del Toro and Justin Timberlake, though he has three upcoming films all in post-production.
