A teenage boy was seriously injured in a brutal stabbing incident in a Long Island park, police said Saturday.
The 16-year-old was sitting with two other teenage boys in a wooded area at the southern end of Roberto Clemente Park in Brentwood when they were approached by four males around 8 p.m. on Friday, Suffolk County police said.
The group “punched and hit” the teenage victim, according to police. When his friends saw that two of the attackers were carrying knives, they ran to get help.
When Suffolk police arrived at the scene, they found the 16-year-old boy “with multiple stab wounds to his back.”
He was airlifted by police helicopter to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for “serious but non-life-threatening” injuries, officials said.
Police have not offered any details on the boy’s injuries or how he is related to his alleged attackers.
No arrests had been made as of Saturday afternoon.
