Team USA hockey star Brady Tkachuk doesn’t approve of a doctored White House video that appears to depict him speaking ill of Canadians.
The clip posted to TikTok appears to show Tkachuk calling Canadians “maple-syrup eating f–ks” who learned their lesson after their hockey team was defeated by the Americans in Sunday’s gold medal round of the winter Olympics in Italy.
“Canada, we own you lil’ bro,” he appeared to say.
Tkachuk — who’s a left-winger for the NHL’s Ottawa Senators — said he doesn’t like the “clearly fake” video and had nothing to do with its content.
“I know that those words would never come out of my mouth,” Tkachuk said. “I would never say that. That’s not who I am.”
The 27-year-old Arizona native has spent his entire NHL career playing in Canada since being drafted by the Senators in 2018. His brother, Matthew Tkachuk, who also skated for Team USA in the Olympics, played for the Calgary Flames from 2016 to 2022.
Tkachuk also denied yelling “close the northern border” when President Trump phoned the team in their locker room after the defeated the Canadians.
“If you watch the video, that’s not my voice and something that I never say,” he claimed.
According to Tkachuk, he has no idea why false allegations about him trashing Canada are making the rounds.
“I’ve given absolutely everything I have as an Ottawa Senator — blood, sweat and tears,” Tkachuk said.
He also stated that he’s honored to represent the U.S. in the Olympics.
The video posted by the White House states that it “contains AI-generated video.”
