‘Breast milk’ ice cream served in Brooklyn — free scoops too

An artificially flavored “breast milk” ice cream is “now pumping” in Brooklyn.

OddFellows Ice Cream Co. in Dumbo is hosting a Frida Breast Milk Ice Cream Pop Up, where free samples are available between noon and 1p.m. daily. Pints sell for $12.99 through Sunday.

The confectionary describes the limited-edition flavor as “slightly sweet” and “faintly salty.”

Ingredients include milk, heavy cream, skim milk powder, sugar, egg yolks and salted caramel flavoring.

A press release claims the ice cream included hints of honey and nutrients like colostrum that are found in actual human breast milk. Frida, the baby products brand participating in the collaboration, is also advertising the promotion as a temporary taste-testing job for “qualified former babies” who’ll work for a scoop of free ice cream.

Shipping is available to the continental U.S. through the end of the week.

Breast milk ice cream dates back to at least 2011 when it was served in London in 2011, then revived in 2015 as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge prepared to welcome their second child, according to The Independent.
