Bronx man sentenced for abusing wheelchair-bound teen

A 58-year-old Bronx man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for repeatedly sexually assaulting his girlfriend’s wheelchair-bound daughter.

Nassau County prosecutors said “disgusting predator” Juan Caceres began sexually abusing the victim in 2011 and continued to do so for more than a decade.

That included an extended period after a 2013 medical procedure left the victim dependent on a wheelchair.

“The defendant began regularly having sexual intercourse with her in her bed at night when she was unable to get up and walk away,” prosecutors said Monday.

Caceres was charged with touching his child victim inappropriately shortly after moving into her family’s Port Washington home 15 years ago.

“The conduct escalated, and the defendant began going into the victim’s bedroom at night to sexually abuse her multiple times a week for more than a year,” prosecutors said.

The Nassau County District Attorney’s office said that abuse continued until the victim became an adult. Caceres surrendered to police in December 2024 and was convicted of abusing the girl in November.

“Juan Caceres is a disgusting predator who stole a young girl’s innocence and subjected her to regular and continuous sexual abuse for more than a decade,” District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly said after the defendant was sentenced.

She praised the victim, who’s now a young woman, for “bravely” coming forward to help put her abuser behind bars.
