Brooke Hogan’s husband addresses claims of alcoholism, abuse

Brooke Hogan’s husband, former pro hockey player Steven Oleksy, stepped in on Saturday to defend his wife against her famous family, one day after her mother made serious accusations of alcoholism and abuse.

In a lengthy statement on Instagram, Oleksy addressed the allegations spewed by his mother-in-law, Linda Hogan — claims he says “fall well short of the truth.”

After thanking those who have supported the couple, Oleksy refuted the many stories Linda shared on social media Friday, among them that Brooke was once “so drunk” after downing “half a bottle of vodka” that she broke Linda’s collarbone and cut her lip.

“The claim that my wife broke Jane Doe’s collarbone was laughable to those who know the truth,” he wrote, without naming Linda directly. “My wife will have the occasional cocktail or glass of wine, but neither of us has ever used drugs or any other substance that may alter reality.”

Oleksy’s comments came following days of highly public family drama, during which time Linda — the ex-wife of former wrestler Hulk Hogan — posted an emotional Instagram video saying Brooke hasn’t spoken to the family for nearly eight years.

“My family’s in the worst mess,” Linda said, attempting to fight back tears. “Brooke doesn’t talk to us. She’s had twins. She got married, she didn’t tell us.”

In response to her mother’s claims, Brooke shared her own Instagram message on Thursday, saying that while she tried for years to “stay strong and silent” and forgive her parents’ “nasty behavior,” it became necessary to cut off contact for the sake of her husband and 2-month-old twins.

Brooke went on to allege that she had been “extremely verbally and mentally abused since childhood” — abuse that would “frequently turn physical.”

“Up until adulthood, I’ve received berating and vile text messages [and] public reamings with unbelievably hurtful words said to me that cannot be forgiven. I have been asked to defend poor behavior to the public and have done so out of love,” she shared. “I wanted badly wanted to see the good in them, protect, help and start anew — just to be disrespected again and again.”

A day later, Linda retaliated with a post on Facebook, claiming she was the who was the victim of violence at the hands of Brooke, while calling her daughter a “narcissist” who “doesn’t want the truth being revealed.”

“None of the stuff ever happened,” she said, adding that she’ll defend herself “in court if [Brooke] keeps it up.”
