Brooklyn boy, 11, remains in critical condition after hit-run; driver on loose

Residents near a street where an 11-year-old boy was struck by a hit-and-run driver said they want the heartless motorist captured and put in jail.

Cops have yet to catch up with the driver of a black Acura that struck a boy on a stand-up electric scooter Monday afternoon in Gravesend and kept going, officials said.

The crash also injured a 25-year-old man who was struck by debris from the collision, police said. The boy remained in critical condition on Tuesday, officials said. The man was released from the hospital where he was taken, a relative said.

“I hope that they catch this guy,” said an outraged neighbor, who has lived near the crash site for 30 years. “And we’re all praying for this little boy that he’s going to get better.”

Cops said the boy was near Avenue V and Ocean Parkway just before 6 p.m. Monday when he was mowed down by a sedan traveling north on the parkway approaching the intersection at Avenue V.

EMS transported both victims to Maimonides Medical Center.

“He’s out of the hospital, thank God,” the older victim’s mother told the Daily News on Tuesday. “But his leg is really bad. It’s banged up bad.”

Police found the damaged car four blocks away on Ocean Parkway and Avenue R.

The Acura’s windshield was shattered and the front of its hood on the passenger side was damaged.

There have been no arrests.

Another neighbor said he heard the collision.

“When he hit him there was a noise,” he said. “The boy was facedown in the street. All the cars stopped and blocked the traffic. They stood around him maybe five minutes. They didn’t touch him. The ambulance came fast.”

The NYPD’s Highway District Collision Investigation Squad is looking into the incident.
