Brian Kohberger, the confessed killer of four University of Idaho students, has filed a sexual harassment claim and is begging to transfer because other inmates are threatening to “B— F—” him, a new report says.
One day after his July 29 arrival in the J-Block of Idaho Maximum Security Institution in Boise, Kohberger slipped a note to a security guard asking to be moved to another cell block or even another facility, People reported Thursday.
“Not engaging in any of the recent flooding/striking as well as being subject to minute-by-minute verbal threats/harassment and on that and other bases [sic] Unit 2 of J-Block is an environment that I wish to transfer from,” Kohberger wrote in his note, according to People. Flooding is a disruption tactic that entails inundating one’s cell with toilet water.
On Aug. 4, Kohberger filed a note of concern alleging he was being sexually harassed. An inmate had told him, “I’ll b— f—you,” he contended, while another had jeered, “The only a— we’ll be eating is Kohberger’s.”
While a guard recalled hearing “vulgar language” lobbed Kohberger’s way, he couldn’t finger a particular inmate.
“We are aware of Kohberger’s complaints about what he considers taunting,” the Idaho Department of Correction told CBS News.
The inmates yell through the air vents into Kohberger’s cell every hour of every day, even keeping him up at night, retired detective Chris McDonough told CBS News.
Instead of the social acceptance and command of surroundings that offenders like Kohberger crave, he is being ridiculed and mocked, clinical and forensic psychologist Gary Brucato told the news outlet. “He’s being robbed of that infamy, that attention and that control.”
While the quadruple murderer may have ducked the death penalty with last month’s guilty plea, “I don’t think Bryan Kohberger anticipated the psychological play here from the inmates,” McDonough told CBS News. “It’s a curveball.”
That sense of entitlement came through to faculty and fellow students at Washington State University, where he was known as imperious, sexist and downright creepy, with one student telling a detective she “had never met anyone who acted in such a condescending manner.”
Kohberger has since said he feels safe enough to stay, prison officials said.
