BU alumni defend coach amid Alex Cooper sexual harassment claims

Decades of Boston University women’s soccer players have signed a letter defending coach Nancy Feldman on the heels of “Call Her Daddy” host Alex Cooper’s sexual harassment allegations against her.

Ninety-nine alumni spoke as a “united group” in saying they “categorically never felt unsafe” under Feldman, according to the letter obtained Monday by TMZ Sports.

Though they had no desire to “diminish or discredit anyone’s individual experience,” the athletes recalled Feldman — who People reports coached the team from 1995 to 2022 — having “approached every day with professionalism, making decisions in service of the success of the team.”

“We were never at risk of or witness to inappropriate behavior or anything that could be characterized as sexual harassment,” the letter stated, also noting that Feldman “has remained an important part of our lives” even after graduation. “And we shall stand by her.”

Feldman made headlines in recent days when the star podcaster, 30, leveled allegations of sexual harassment in her two-part Hulu docuseries, “Call Her Alex,” which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival on June 8.

The podcaster claims, that during her time playing on a soccer scholarship from 2013 to 2015, she “started to notice [Feldman] really starting to fixate more on me than any other teammate of mine” during Cooper’s sophomore year.

“It was all based in her wanting to know who I was dating, her making comments about my body and her always wanting to be alone with me,” says Cooper, who claims Feldman also put her hand on her thigh. “It was this psychotic game of ‘You want to play, tell me about your sex life.’”

Cooper and her parents claimed that university officials did nothing when approached about the allegations.

On June 12, Boston University said it “has a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment,” per TMZ Sports.

“We have a robust system of resources, support and staff dedicated to student wellbeing and a thorough reporting process through our Equal Opportunity Office,” continued the statement. “We encourage members of our community to report any concerns, and we remain committed to fostering a safe and secure campus environment for all.”

Representatives for Cooper and Boston University Athletics did not immediately respond to the Daily News’ request for comment.
