A tourist from Canada visiting Manhattan was stabbed in the leg outside Bryant Park in an apparently unprovoked attack, police said Tuesday.
The 44-year-old victim, who suffered a minor wound, was stabbed in his left leg near W. 40th St. and Sixth Ave. in Midtown about 5:35 p.m. Monday, cops said.
He had knelt down to tie his shoe when he felt a sharp pain but didn’t realize what it was at first, sources told ABC 7 New York. A few moments later, his leg began to bleed and he realized he had been stabbed. The victim is from Canada and was visiting Bryant Park when he was stabbed, the sources said.
Medics rushed the man to Bellevue Hospital, where he was treated and released.
Cops were scouring the area looking for surveillance video that could help them identify the stabber.
