Celine Dion shares rare public video to her fans as she battles stiff person syndrome

Her heart will go on.

Céline Dion, 57, share a rare video message to her fans, amid her heath battle with the rare “stiff person” syndrome.

On Dec. 31, she shared an Instagram reel, addressing her fans.

“As we welcome this new year, I want to take a moment to send you all my love. May this year bring you good health, happiness and peace in your heart,” Dion said in the video.

The singer continued, “I hope you find laughter in the little things, strength in the hard times and joy in the memories you create with those you love.”

Dion told fans that she appreciated them for  “keeping me in your hearts.”

“You are always in mine. From my family to yours, I just want to wish you, a happy new year,” she said, and blew a kiss.

The “My Heart Will Go On” singer suffers from a rare autoimmune neurological disorder called stiff person syndrome that has interfered with her ability to sing.

She first revealed her diagnosis in 2021. The disease causes painful muscle spasms, which she showed in her 2024 documentary,  “I Am: Celine Dion.”

The documentary didn’t shy away from her struggles, showing harrowing moments of the singer convulsing and writhing in pain.

Documentary director Irene Taylor, told Yahoo in 2024 that Dion didn’t want her to omit that footage.

“It was very upsetting. Very upsetting,” she said. “I know it’s hard on some viewers, it was hard on me, too. But I will tell you that Céline felt validated to see herself like that, and she thought it would help her if other people could understand what [SPS] is like.”

Dion’s health battle has also caused her to withdraw from the public eye, although she’s made some brief appearances, like attending the 2024 Grammys, briefly performing at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and in June of 2024, she also attended the premiere of “I Am: Celine Dion” at Lincoln Center.

During her 10-minute speech at the latter event, Dion pointed out that her neurologist, Dr. Amanda Picquet, was in the packed audience.

“In finding ways to manage and treat my condition, Dr. Piquet has delivered a very, very important resolve for me — she has replaced my fear with hope,” the singer said.
