These girls know how to have fun.
Cyndi Lauper celebrated the final show on her farewell tour Saturday with surprise appearances by other music icons, including her longtime pal Cher.
The Goddess of Pop, 79, joined Lauper, 72, on stage at the Hollywood Bowl for an epic duet to “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.”
Both stars wore matching white coats with red dots for their performance, as seen in TikTok videos shared by fans who were at the concert.
“It was a wild night, 2 legends in unforgettable night,” one fan wrote in the comments of the clip.
“Age has no boundaries!” another person wrote.
“This makes me soooo happy!! I grew up with this song,” a third person wrote.
A Cher fan account also shared a video of her with Lauper, writing, “Cher said goodbye to the audience at the Hollywood Bowl last night after her performance with Cyndi Lauper, saying “see you all soon…”
Lauper’s duet with Cher was the final performance of the night. After the venue lit up with fireworks and confetti, Lauper handed Cher a bouquet of roses and told her, “You’re the queen.”
Cher, in response, said, “No, you’re the f–king queen,” and handed the roses back to Lauper. The two women then hugged on stage as the crowd cheered.
In addition to Cher, SZA, John Legend, Joni Mitchell, Trombone Shorty, and Jake Wesley Roger also made guest appearances throughout the night.
Mitchell, 81, came out on stage to join Lauper for a rendition of her 1971 classic “Carey.” Lauper covered the song multiple times before, including at a 2000 tribute concert for Mitchell.
After Mitchell, Legend, 46, appeared on stage to sing “Time After Time” with Lauper.
Lauper’s Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour began in Oct. 2024 in Montreal. She performed a total of 69 shows across North America, Europe, Australia and Asia.
In an interview with Rolling Stone last fall, Lauper called her farewell tour a “bucket list” accomplishment.
“I haven’t done an arena tour since ‘86,” she shared at the time. “I’m excited because I get to have all these fantastic young women on tour with me. So many years, I was told I can’t do a women’s tour because nobody will go see it. ‘Women don’t sell like men sell.’ Then I toured with Cher and we played for a million people. So bulls–t.”
In March, Lauper told People she’s not taking a break from working after the tour.
“I’m supposed to be doing [the musical adaptation of the 1988 film] ‘Working Girl’ after the tour,” she said. “That’s what I’ve basically been doing for 10 years. The weird thing about the Broadway thing is it takes a long time.”
“So, it’s not like I’m not going to be working,” Lauper added. “I’m just not going to be touring. Touring is a whole different animal.”
