Chloe Fineman addressed the “sadness” of the recent shakeups on “Saturday Night Live.”
Ahead of the Season 51 premiere on Oct. 4, a slew of cast members have departed the NBC series.
Fineman, 37, called the news “pretty wild” while speaking to EXTRA TV on Thursday.
“Some shocking stuff,” she elaborated. “A little heartbreak, sadness. I haven’t fully processed anything, but I will say the show has such a turnover.”
“I’m going into my seventh year,” added Fineman, who joined “SNL” in 2019. “I’ve like, done it. You always experience [turnover], but these people stay in your lives.”
Devon Walker, Emil Wakim, Michael Longfellow and Heidi Gardner are not returning to the late-night show.
Gardner, 42, exited the series after eight years. Her contract with “SNL” was not renewed, an insider told The Post.
“It’s time for a new cast,” they added.
Gardner has yet to publicly address her departure but she was previously the longest-tenured woman on the show as of last season.
The actress first joined the mix during Season 43 as a featured player.
But the comedian had previously hinted about possibly stepping back from “SNL” in recent months.
“I will say, the only thing that I’ve started to feel a little bit is just sketch fatigue, or idea fatigue,” she detailed while on Craig Ferguson’s podcast, “Joy.” “At this point, after doing Groundlings and ‘SNL’ for so long, I’m like, ‘I’ve written a lot of sketches.’”
Longfellow, 31, meanwhile, published a farewell message of his own after news hit.
“Will not be returning for a 4th season at SNL. Wish I was but, so it goes. It was the best three years of my life so far. I feel nothing but gratitude for the experience and everyone there. Lorne, you gave me the greatest job in the world and changed my life. You even put my mom on TV. Thank you doesnt begin to cover it, but thank you,” the comic, who joined the show in Season 48, wrote on Instagram.
Walker, 34, also addressed the news on his Instagram, sharing in part in a personal note: “To me, jobs in this industry feel like a bunch of little marriages. Some of em last for a long time if we’re lucky, but most of them are fleeting. Permanent until they’re not. That’s the deal. You know what it is… when you sign up.”
Fans flocked to social media when the shakeups were revealed, with one person penning on X: “ohhh my boys @internetdevon @Longfellowww i wish you both nothing but the best.”
Walker reposted the comment and responded, “yall acting like we died lol we just getting different jobs.”
However, as the show gears up for its premiere, “SNL” has added five new faces to the mix.
Last week, NBC announced that comedians Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Culhane, Ben Marshall, Kam Patterson and Veronika Slowikowska will all make their debuts on the sketch comedy show next month.
Slowikowska, 29, hails from Canada and simply wrote on Instagram, “Dream come true 🥲 see you Saturdays @nbcsnl.”
