R&B Singer Chris Brown returned on Friday to London court, where he pleaded not guilty to additional charges related to the alleged attack of a music producer in a swanky nightclub two years ago.
Brown denied a more serious count of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm at a hearing last month. During his latest appearance at Southwark Crown Court on Friday, the 36-year-old Grammy winner sported a brown suit as he also denied charges of denied having an offensive weapon in a public place, and assault causing actual bodily harm to Abraham Diaw on February 19, 2023.
He was released in May on a bail of $6.75 million, which allowed him to begin his “Breezy Bowl XX” tour in Europe.
Brown’s accused of repeatedly striking Diaw over the head with a bottle of tequila at the Tape nightclub in London’s ritzy Mayfair neighborhood. The “Run It” singer — who has a history of assault arrests — also allegedly punched and repeatedly kicked Diaw during the “unprovoked attack.”
Police have said the entire altercation, which occurred inside the crowded club, was caught on surveillance video.
Diaw has since filed a civil suit seeking damages for the injuries he suffered in the alleged assault, claiming he was knocked unconscious and stomped on — even as he was passed out on the floor.
Brown’s friend and fellow musician Hoody Baby is facing charges in connection with the incident as well. The rapper, whose real name is Omololu Akinlolu, pleaded not guilty to actual bodily harm on Friday.
