Cinnabon fires worker at store after racist tirade at customers

A Cinnabon worker was recorded yelling racial slurs at customers inside a Wisconsin store, the company said.

The incident occurred Friday at a Cinnabon location at the Bay Park Mall in Ashwaubenon, a suburb of Green Bay, when the woman began yelling at a couple that “I am racist,” taunting them from behind the counter and using slurs, according to a video posted on TikTok.

The woman wrote that the worker snapped at her about her hijab when she asked for more caramel for her pastry — and that she then started recording.

“I am traumatized and afraid to be outside now… the racism is getting out of hand nowadays,” the woman wrote in her video’s caption.

In a response to the video on X Saturday, Cinnabon wrote that the employee was “immediately” fired by the franchise owner.

“We’ve seen the disturbing video from the Cinnabon bakery in Ashwaubenon, WI, and we do not condone this behavior. The former employee was immediately terminated by the franchise owner,” the statement read. “Their actions do not reflect our values or the welcoming experience every guest deserves.”

The couple was described as “black Somali Muslims” in at least one online fundraiser.

The incident comes days after President Trump attacked Minnesota’s Somalia-born Democratic member of Congress Ilhan Omar and the Somali community in that state during a Cabinet meeting at the White House.

“These are Americans that he is calling ‘garbage,’” Omar said while responding to the president’s remarks on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

“I think it is also really important for us to remember that this kind of hateful rhetoric – and this level of dehumanizing – can lead to dangerous actions by people who listen to the president,” she added.

Ashwaubenon is about 280 miles east of Minneapolis.
