The New Mexico Pinon Coffee brand has issued a nationwide recall of its coffee pods due to a manufacturing defect.
The single-serve coffee pods, which are sold at Costco, Walmart and Kroger stores, have been voluntarily recalled due to the potential for coloring used in the products to leak into the cup during brewing.
While no illnesses or adverse reactions have so far been reported, company president Matthew Bregar urged consumers to either throw the pods away or return them for a refund “out an abundance of caution.”
The only coffee pods involved in the recall are the Dark Pinon single-serve cups sold in a 10-count box. The affected products have a lot code of 251749.
The latest coffee consumer call-to-action follows a voluntary recall issued by Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA in March. Among nearly 700 cases of the brand’s ground coffee were found to be mislabeled as decaffeinated in 15 states.
