Conn. man has no remorse for killing dad, would do it again: cops

A Connecticut man accused of fatally stabbing his father showed no remorse for the grisly killing, allegedly telling authorities he would do it again if given the opportunity, according to a newly unsealed arrest warrant.

Joshua Popielarczyk is facing a murder charge in connection with the slaying of his 62-year-old father, David Popielarczyk, who was found dead in the living room of their Farmington home on Nov. 14. Following his arrest, Popielarczyk confessed to the crime, and told investigators he had been thinking about killing his father since he was 9 years old, according to documents obtained by Connecticut Insider. He additionally claimed his father abused him, and he said he wished he killed him sooner.

Popielarczyk also allegedly demonstrated for police how he killed the elder Popielarczyk . He said his father was seated when he grabbed him from behind and put him in a chokehold, then lifted him out of his chair. He’d allegedly hoped to break his father’s neck, but he wanted to make sure he was dead, so he also used two knives to stab him more than 20 times.

Marie Popielarczyk, the victim’s wife and suspect’s mother, discovered the body near the front of the home on Birch street and called 911.

“He’s on the floor, there’s blood everywhere,” she said, according to the warrant.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later ruled David died of multiple stab wounds. The report made no mention of a broken back.

Popielarczyk was ordered held on $3 million bond following his court appearance last month. He is due back in court on Tuesday.
