Connecticut man stabs woman, kills cat: police

A Killingly, Conn., man is accused of knifing a female acquaintance and killing their cat, authorities said.

Connecticut State Police on Monday said Mackenzie Anderson, 26, was arrested in connection to a March 29 incident in which he allegedly threatened to “chop [the victim] to pieces” before stabbing her several times.

According to cops, the victim claimed Anderson had been vowing to take action against former friends and colleagues whom he believed “wronged” him before he lashed out at her. She also told police Anderson hadn’t slept the night before the alleged assault.

The pair got into an argument that morning, which allegedly led to Anderson getting a knife after the victim told him if he threatened her again, she’d call police. He’s accused of holding the victim down and stabbing her multiple times — at least once in her neck. Officers observed several “minor lacerations” that were treated at an area hospital.

Anderson reportedly told authorities the victim stabbed herself and claimed he was cut while trying to stop her. Police, however, determined he was the “primary aggressor.”

The victim also told investigators Anderson tried strangling their cat one night after being upset over finding fur on a blanket. The next morning she found the animal dead.

“That’s how I parent, and it’s just an animal,” he allegedly told the victim when she asked why he killed their cat.

The victim didn’t immediately report either incident to law enforcement.

A neighbor told police the victim knocked on her door for help after being attacked. That witness said she normally hears the woman and her alleged assailant arguing from next door and thought it was “odd” not to have heard anything the day of the apparent stabbings.

Anderson left the crime scene following the disturbance. He was arrested after a neighbor spotted him returning to the home and alerted police.

The victim told investigators the erratic suspect can be “kind Mac and then be cold, scary Mack.”

Anderson faces charges including malicious killing of an animal, reckless endangerment and assault.
