A Connecticut man has been arrested for following a woman home and carjacking her, then stealing the same car again two weeks later, police said Sunday.
Aaron Rodriguez De Los Santos, a 26-year-old Waterbury resident, began his infatuation with the 2015 Honda Civic on Nov. 23, Waterbury police said in a Facebook post.
On that day, he followed the unnamed victim to her home, pushed her as she stepped out of her vehicle, snatched the keyfob and took off with the car, according to authorities.
Cops later located the vehicle and returned it to the woman, police said. However, Rodriguez De Los Santos maintained possession of the keyfob he had swiped.
That allowed him to steal the woman’s vehicle again on Dec. 3., cops said. However, officers found the car later that day parked at a gas station in Waterbury and arrested Rodriguez De Los Santos at the scene.
Investigators also found fentanyl and crack cocaine inside the car, according to police. Rodriguez De Los Santos was charged with one count of motor vehicle larceny and two counts of drug possession with intent to distribute. Charges are also pending for the initial carjacking on Nov. 23, police said.
