A 16-year-old student was arrested Thursday after bringing a loaded gun to their Connecticut high school.
The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. at Manchester High School in Hartford County in central Connecticut where a student reported to school administrators that they overheard another student talking about “a clip” in the bathroom.
School officials and Manchester police found the student and put them into custody.
A loaded .380 caliber Smith & Wesson M&P handgun, marijuana and vapes were found in the student’s backpack.
No injuries were reported and classes were dismissed early at 11:30 a.m.
The student — whose name was not released due to their age — was charged with carrying a firearm without a permit, a weapon on school grounds; carrying a dangerous weapon; first-degree reckless endangerment; possession of marijuana by a minor; illegal manufacture, distribution, sale, prescription or dispensing; and second-degree breach of peace.
