Mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Conor McGregor plans on putting aside cage matches to get into a boxing ring with Logan Paul in India.
The 36-year-old Irish martial arts fighter announced his intentions to take on the 29-year-old pugilist Tuesday.
“I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India,” McGregor posted online. “I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon.”
McGregor, referencing India’s richest family, also used that statement to shoot down rumors his next opponent would be 27-year-old MMA fighter Ilia Topuria.
Logan Paul’s boxing brother Jake Paul struck back Tuesday with a statement that makes no mention of the Ambani family. He accuses McGregor’s “desperate” handlers of trying to set up a deal they’ve been told is unacceptable by his Most Valuable Promotions team, which would have a say in the matter.
“As we told them them privately & I’m now saying it publicly…the only way we’re willing to explore me vs Conor in a pro boxing/mma fight is if Dana White/ UFC are at the table directly or make it clear they are ok with discussions,” Jake Paul posted on X.
He claims McGregor needs this fight more than his brother does.

Jake and Logan Paul gained fame as YouTube influencers, which they parlayed into boxing and wrestling careers, respectively. Jake Paul last month secured a one-sided win over 55-year-old former fighter Mike Tyson in a bout streamed globally by Netflix.
McGregor’s only boxing match to date was against former champ Floyd Mayweather, who won that 2017 match by technical knockout. McGregor and Mayweather each stood around 5 feet 9 inches and weighed roughly 150 lbs. in that fight.
Logan Paul stands 6 feet 2 inches and weighs 205 pounds according to ESPN. He fought Mayweather to a draw in 2021. His one boxing victory was a win by disqualification against MMA fighter Dillon Danis. He’s also participated in MMA competitions.
In 2022, Logan Paul became involved in WWE professional wrestling. He was named the U.S. champion in 2023.
McGregor’s most recent defeat came in an Ireland courtroom last month, where a jury ordered him to pay more than $250,000 to a woman he’s accused of “brutally” assaulting sexually in 2018.
