Convicted killer Taylor Schabusiness attacks lawyer in court: video

Taylor Schabusiness, the Wisconsin woman serving a life sentence for the 2022 killing and dismemberment of her ex-boyfriend, appeared in court Friday morning, where she was tackled by officers after screaming and lunging at her attorney.

Schabusiness was sentenced in September 2023 to life in prison without the possibility of parole. She was convicted of strangling 24-year-old Shad Thyrion to death, sexually abusing his corpse and then chopping up his body during a drug-fueled encounter in his mother’s basement in Green Bay.

Last year, the 27-year-old was charged with battery after allegedly assaulting a staff member at Taycheedah Correctional Institution. She appeared for a preliminary hearing on Friday, where she was seen suddenly standing up and then attacking her lawyer, Paul Julka, according to video obtained by the Law&Crime Network.

Court officers could be seen quickly tackling Schabusiness to the ground. She was then removed from the courtroom and the hearing was halted.

When proceedings resumed a short while later, Schabusiness appeared via video call, according to Court TV. Julka asked Judge Anthony Nehls to withdraw from the case, which he did following the hearing.

Julka was not the first lawyer to be physically attacked by Schabusiness.

During a mental competency hearing in February 2023, she threw an elbow at her former attorney Quinn Jolly’s head and had to be wrestled to the ground by police.

Jolly also asked to be removed from the case.
