Cops charge man with trying to snatch 6-year-old boy in Coney Island

A man was arrested for attempting to kidnap a little boy on a Coney Island sidewalk in Brooklyn, cops said Monday.

Jonathan Robalino, 36, was slapped with charges of assault, attempted kidnapping and failure to exercise control of a minor after he grabbed a 6-year-old boy around 9:56 p.m. Sunday near Surf and Stillwell Avenues, cops said.

Police sources told the Daily News that Robalino picked up the little boy and put him on his shoulders. When the child’s mother chased after Robalino, he put the boy down and ran off, the sources said.

A police officer nearby ran after Robalino and arrested him, cops said.

EMS transported the child to South Brooklyn Health, where he was treated for minor injuries and was in stable condition.

Robalino’s arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court was pending Monday night.

The NYPD said Robalino has had seven prior arrests.
