Cops hunt escaped prisoner with dangling handcuff in lower Manhattan

A 34-year-old man escaped from police custody in lower Manhattan, and was last seen running barefoot toward the East River with a handcuff dangling from one wrist, police said Thursday night.

The fugitive took off outside of NYU Langone Medical Center around 7 p.m., according to police. He was last seen near E. 30th St. and FDR Drive.

The approximately 6″ tall Black man was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, with a white t-shirt underneath, and black sweatpants, a source said.

He was barefoot and may be covering the handcuff dangling from his right wrist with boxes, the source added.

Police confirmed the man had been arrested but did not immediately say for what offense.

This is a developing story. Check back for more information.
