Cops rush to investigate 911 call of man armed with rifle near Columbus Circle

A chilling 911 call of a man potentially armed with a rifle triggered a swift police response at Columbus Circle to canvas the area Tuesday night.

Police got a call around 7:05 p.m. of a man possibly armed with a rifle, wearing a black t-shirt with a white swastika on the front, carrying a green duffle bag and driving a black jeep near W. 46th St. and Seventh Ave. in Midtown – and heading toward Columbus Circle, cops and police sources said.

The vehicle was said to be armed with explosive devices.

Cops conducted a search of the area, but found no one matching the description.

The quick response comes in the wake of the July 28 mass shooting from unhinged gunman, Shane Tamura, 27, who was caught on surveillance video walking with an apparent assault rifle into 345 Park Ave., where he opened fire in the lobby of a Midtown Manhattan office building housing The Blackstone Group, Rudin Management and NFL headquarters.

Five people were killed in the shooting sprea, including a police officer and Tamura, who turned the gun on himself.
