A North Carolina couple have been indicted for murder in the stabbing death of the woman’s Long Island ex-boyfriend at the Stony Brook Yacht Club early last month, prosecutors said Tuesday.
The victim, 52-year-old Christopher Millwater of Selden, was found unconscious in the parking lot of the yacht club in the early hours of Nov. 10, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release.
Police responded to a 911 call from a fisherman shortly after 3:30 a.m. and discovered the victim with two stab wounds to the chest. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Millwater’s ex-girlfriend, Kacy Corso, and her current boyfriend, Victor Panebianco, were later arrested for allegedly working together to kill the victim.
Corso, formerly of Setauket, was arrested by Suffolk County police on Nov. 10. Panebianco was arrested nine days later in Stokes County, N.C., according to local media. He was extradited to Suffolk County and arrested on Dec. 3, online court records show.
On Tuesday, prosecutors said both 33-year-old Corso and 32-year-old Panebianco — who are listed as King, N.C., residents — were indicted on second-degree murder charges for the stabbing and killing of Millwater, which Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney called a “deliberate and coordinated act of violence.”
According to investigators, surveillance footage shows Corso driving into the yacht club parking lot and blocking Millwater’s car. Panebianco allegedly exited Corso’s vehicle and approached the victim’s car. Millwater then drove around Corso’s car, but she reportedly rammed into his vehicle.
After the crash, Millwater allegedly got out of his car and tried to flee, while Panebianco chased after him, “swinging an object,” prosecutors said. Millwater also allegedly asked Panebianco, “You’re stabbing me?” while screaming for help and for the police.
According to prosecutors, Panebianco can be seen in surveillance video catching up to Millwater, allegedly threatening him and yelling for him to stay away from Corso, who can also be heard shouting.
Panebianco reportedly kicked Millwater in the head before getting back into Corso’s car, which then drove off. Cellphone records indicate the pair arrived on Long Island less than 90 minutes before the murder and fled New York afterward, officials said.
Posts from a Facebook account suggested prior interactions between Corso and Millwater.
In a July post, Corso wrote that Millwater “cant accept NO for an answer or won’t accept.”
She added, “I DONT WANT TO BE WITH HIM. As you can see… psycho much??”
Both Panebianco and Corso pleaded not guilty and were ordered held without bail. They are due back in court Jan. 13 and 14, respectively, and face 25 years to life in prison, if convicted.
