A Connecticut man was charged with murder in the shooting death of his parents earlier this week in Waterbury, officials said Wednesday.
Javian Adams, 25, is accused of fatally shooting his father, Marc Adams, 55, and his mother, Carlene Williams, 51, at her Waterbury home late Monday night. Officials said Marc Adams did not live at the residence.
Waterbury police discovered the victims when responding to the 100 block of Beverly Avenue around 11 p.m., Chief Fernando Spagnolo said at a press conference Wednesday morning.
Both had been shot and were pronounced dead at the scene, Spagnolo said.
After investigators identified Adams as a suspect, police obtained an arrest warrant charging him with murder with special circumstances, murder during the commission of a felony, criminal use of a weapon and other crimes.
He was arrested early Tuesday near Lake Winnemaug Road in neighboring Watertown, where he’s suspected of breaking into a home.
According to Spagnolo, Adams “has a significant history of domestic violence” and was on probation for previous domestic violence arrests.
Adams is being held on a $5 million bond and is expected to be arraigned later on Wednesday. He also faces charges of burglary and larceny in connection to the Watertown incident.
On Tuesday, Watertown police asked the public for help locating a white Ford Escape linked to the burglary. The vehicle has since been found in a park in Middlebury, about three miles from the crime scene, according to NBC Connecticut.
