A Connecticut man has been convicted of sexually assaulting two children over the span of several years while their mother was at work, authorities said Tuesday.
James Celesk, a 45-year-old East Windsor man, was convicted of first-degree sexual assault, risk of injury to a child and several other crimes, Hartford prosecutors said in a press release.
The assaults occurred between 2015 and 2020, according to authorities. The victims were between the ages of 5 and 8 when they were attacked. The children said they were assaulted when they were alone with Celesk and their mother was at work.
The nature of the victim’s relationship with Celesk wasn’t made clear.
A third child also accused Celesk of physically abusing them during that same time period.
Last Wednesday, a jury in Hartford Superior Court found Celesk guilty on one count of first-degree sexual assault, two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault, two counts of criminal sexual contact, three counts of risk of injury to a minor and one count of criminal mischief.
“These cases are difficult and this team came together to seek justice for the victims,” Hartford Judicial District State’s Attorney Sharmese Walcott said.
In 2016, an East Windsor resident named James Celesk was included on a reported list of sex offenders in Connecticut, but he is no longer listed in the state’s online database.
