A Connecticut man fatally stabbed his father in a fight inside a parked car at a Hartford motel, police said.
Raybin Hokim, 49, was detained shortly after stepping out of the vehicle Saturday morning, the Hartford Courant reported. His father, 78-year-old Vincent Hokim, was identified as the victim.
“It’s a domestic incident, an unfortunate incident and a violent incident,” Hartford police officer Aaron Boisvert told local Fox affiliate WTIC. “We have all the individuals involved. We’re pretty confident we know what happened. It was clearly a domestic incident between two individuals and nobody else at this point.”
A bystander called 911 on Saturday morning to report a fight between two individuals in a car at the Travel Inn Motel, CT Insider reported. Responding officers located Raybin Hokim as he exited the car and detained him.
Cops said Vincent Hokim was found unresponsive inside the car, according to WTIC. Investigators said it was unclear what sparked the fight, only that Vincent Hokim had arrived at the hotel apparently to pick up his son after his stay ended.
Raybin Hokim was charged with murder and cooperated with investigators, cops told local NBC affiliate WVIT. His first court date was not publicly announced.
Vincent Hokim’s slaying was the first homicide of the year in Hartford, authorities said. There were 22 killings in the city in 2024 and 36 homicides in 2023, according to CT Insider.
