Cyclist beats man with bike, critically injuring him on the Upper West Side

A pair of crazed cyclists attacked a man on the Upper West Side, critically injuring him after one of attackers beat the victim over the head with their bicycle, cops said Thursday.

The 45-year-old victim was walking near the corner of W. 82nd St. and Central Park West on the edge of the park around 5:55 p.m. Oct. 16 when the duo, both on bikes, approached him, according to police.

One of the men pummeled the victim repeatedly with his bike, leaving him with cuts on his head and face.

The attackers rode off south down Central Park West, leaving the bloodied victim on the street.

Medics took the man to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital in critical but stable condition.

Police are still searching for the men, and released images of them on Thursday in the hope someone may recognize them.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
