David Byrne Who is the Sky Tour 2026: Where to buy tickets, schedule

It looks like David Byrne’s ‘Who is the Sky Tour’ wasn’t a “Once In A Lifetime” thing.

The former Talking Heads frontman just extended his ongoing run in support of his 2025 “Who is the Sky” album into 2026.

Starting in March, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee will return to the road and headline at festivals, bowls, theaters, performing arts centers and domes all over North America.

And, while he doesn’t have any gigs lined up in New York this time around, Byrne will get close when he takes the stage at Bridgeport, CT’s Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater on May 15.

Based on our findings at Set List FM, the 73-year-old singer has been performing a mix of Talking Heads classics — “This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody),” “Life During Wartime,” “Burning Down The House,” “Psycho Killer” and, yes, “Once In A Lifetime” — and cuts from the recently-released record at 2025 shows.

“’Who Is the Sky’ was a singular, immersive experience — artful, playful, and unmistakably Byrne — leaving the Miami crowd thoroughly inspired as the night drew to a close,” Miami New Times shared in a thoughtful review of a Dec. 6 concert.

“…it was daring, original, and visually fluid — a performance that felt more like contemporary dance or Broadway than a conventional rock concert.”

In addition to the tour, the Grammy winner is also slated to lend his talents to Knoxville, TN’s Big Ears Festival and Indio, CA’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

David Byrne new music

On Sept. 5, Byrne released his ninth solo album “Who Is The Sky?”

And, against all odds, the quirky 73-year-old performer is showing no signs of slowing down creatively or vocally.

From the jaunty, joyous, almost tropical lead single “Everybody Laughs” to the minimalist, impassioned final track “The Truth,” Byrne melds vivid lyrics with genre-bending instrumentals and his haunting yet comforting talk-singing.

Personally, we’re partial to the absurd, bouncy “My Apartment Is My Friend,” delicately arranged, personal “A Door Called No” and salsa-like Hayley Williams duet “What Is The Reason For It?”

There really aren’t any disappointments here, though. Each and every song is exquisitely arranged, appropriately melancholy and ebullient and somehow danceable. In short, it’s a David Byrne album that fits squarely in his unimpeachable canon.

To hear for yourself, you can find “Who Is The Sky” here.

More recently, Byrne unveiled the three-minute single “T Shirt” with Brian Eno. If you haven’t had a chance to listen yet, the slinky song is an excellent companion piece to the record. Here it is. Enjoy!

David Byrne NPR Tiny Desk performance

In early December, NPR dropped Byrne’s downright giddy Tiny Desk concert with his 12-piece blue-suited backing band.

The 13 of them rip through four songs — “Everybody Laughs,” “Don’t Be Like That,” “(Nothing But) Flowers” and “Life During Wartime” — in a far too-brief 20 minutes.

It’s lo-fi yet grandiose and a whole burst of joy. We can’t recommend watching enough. Check out the full performance below.
