Katherine Del Rio, the wife of actor David Del Rio, is publicly slamming his “Matlock” co-star Leah Lewis following her husband’s dismissal from the show over sexual assault allegations.
On Thursday, the 33-year-old took to her Instagram Stories to criticize Lewis, writing alongside a photo of the actress, “This is the most disturbing human being I have ever met.”
The post came on the same day sources confirmed to multiple outlets that Del Rio had been fired from the “Matlock” cast, following an investigation into allegations that he assaulted Lewis in a trailer on Paramount property late last month.
After the news of Del Rio’s departure broke, Lewis speak out on Instagram, saying that her family had been rallying around her during the difficult time.
“Mom is here, we’re moving forward in love and strength. I’m in good hands,” she wrote. “Thank you to everybody for any kind of support and care.’”
Katherine fired back, mocking the post, by sharing a photo of her and her own mother captioned, “Mom is here. We’re moving forward in love and strength after what Leah did to our family. Thank you all for the love and support!”
The alleged assault occurred on Sept. 26 and was first reported to CBS Studios on Oct. 2, sources told Deadline. Following an internal investigation, Del Rio was reportedly escorted off the Paramount lot that same day.
Del Rio portrayed Billy Martinez in the first season of the reboot of the 1980s legal drama. And while the first half of the second season had already been filmed prior to the incident, Del Rio’s character will be written off the series for future episodes.
Along with Del Rio and Lewis, the cast includes Kathy Bates, Jason Ritter and Skype P. Marshall. None of the show’s other cast members have publicly spoken about their co-star’s departure.
“Matlock” season 2 is still set to premiere on Sunday.
