The decomposing body found in a Stamford, Conn., home following a deadly standoff last week was publicly identified Wednesday by police.
Carmine Boccuzzi, who would have been 79 years old, was found dead in the home belonging to Jed Parkington and his wife, Stamford police said in a Facebook post.
Boccuzzi had previously rented a room from Parkington, and his name was listed on the home’s eviction papers, WCBS reported. Boccuzzi’s death was ruled a homicide by “blunt impact injuries of the head and torso with gagging,” according to the state medical examiner.
A state marshal arrived at the home on Dec. 2 to evict Parkington, who was years behind on his mortgage, authorities said. Parkington, 63, met the marshal at the back door with explosives on his belt, tossed his wife out of the home and warned the marshal, “This is not going to end well.”
Police arrived as backup and traded gunfire with Parkington throughout the day after he opened fire on a SWAT vehicle around 11 a.m. After more than four hours of confrontation, cops heard a single gunshot from inside the home and later confirmed Parkington died by suicide.
While searching the residence afterward, authorities found numerous explosive devices and Boccuzzi’s decomposing body, which had been concealed.
