Delta Air Lines will soon start serving Shake Shack burgers to a few lucky travelers as part of the carrier’s “first-of-its-kind partnership” with the beloved New York City-based eatery.
The “sky-high collaboration,” set to take off on Dec.1 for first-class passengers flying out of Boston, is expected to expand to other U.S. markets throughout 2025, the company said in a news release.
The burgers will be available on routes over 900 miles, according to the airline.
“A delicious cheeseburger is an iconic comfort food — our customers know that, which is why burgers are one of the top ordered menu items we offer, and we’re thrilled to elevate the offering with Shake Shack,” Stephanie Laster, Delta’s managing director of onboard service, said Tuesday in a statement.
Passengers who wish to enjoy the famed burger joint’s Shake Shack Cheeseburger will be asked to pre-select their meal on the Fly Delta app or the airlines’ website starting seven days before a flight and up to 24 hours ahead of takeoff. Options to customize the Angus beef patty include toppings like lettuce, tomato and the restaurant’s secret ShackSauce.
Chips, a Caesar salad and a “dark chocolate brownie reminiscent of Shack Attack flavors from some of the brand’s dessert offerings” can also be added to the meal for a complete Shake Shack experience.
“We’re always looking for new and innovative ways to meet our guests where they are, even at 35,000 feet,” said Michael Kark, the restaurant’s president of global licensing, noting the partnership is “taking our beloved cheeseburger to new heights.”
Shake Shack, which started as a hot dog cart inside Manhattan’s Madison Square Park in 2001, is now a massive food empire with more than 500 locations around the world, including 180 restaurants in Europe and Asia.
