DNA confirms Kada Scott’s body found at Philadelphia school

The weeks-long search for missing Philadelphia woman Kada Scott culminated in the discovery of her remains at an abandoned school in Philadelphia over the weekend, officials confirmed.

Police announced on Saturday that they found a woman’s remains after receiving a detailed tip amid their investigation into Scott’s disappearance — but they also stopped short of saying that they belonged to the missing woman, who vanished on Oct. 4 after leaving her job at The Terrace assisted living facility in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood. Her identity has since been confirmed through DNA testing, Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner said during a news conference on Monday.

Scott’s cause of death was not provided, but authorities have said she likely died several days before her remains were found.

“This is an ever-evolving, developing situation, both in terms of investigation and prosecution,” Krasner said. “There are things that we know today that we cannot tell you and we cannot tell you for a variety of reasons.”

The grisly discovery came days after authorities announced the arrest of 21-year-old Keon King in connection with the missing persons case. He’s already facing counts of kidnapping, reckless endangerment and stalking, among others and was being held on $2.5 million bond.

“I am confident that homicide charges will be brought,” Krasner said. “But I also have an obligation to follow the law and uphold the constitution. That means we don’t take shortcuts.”

Police previously said King was the last person to contact Scott prior to her disappearance earlier this month. His cellphone was in locations related to her disappearance, prosecutor Ashley Toczylowski told reporters, adding that there is extensive video evidence in the case.

She said authorities also “have reason to believe other people may have been involved after the fact,” which is “very much still being investigated.”
