Dog the Bounty Hunter’s stepson accidentally shot and killed his 13-year-old son, according to multiple reports published Sunday.
Gregory Zecca, the stepson of the notorious criminal-chasing celebrity, killed his son Anthony in a “freak accident” on Saturday night at their apartment in Naples, Fla., TMZ reported. Anthony was Dog’s step-grandson.
No arrests were made following the incident, according to the Naples Daily News. Local cops did not publicly identify the shooter or the victim but did confirm a fatal shooting at a residence on Saturday night.
Dog, whose legal name is Duane Chapman, married Francie Chapman in 2021. Zecca is Francie’s son from a previous marriage.
“We are grieving as a family over this incomprehensible tragic accident and would ask for continued prayers as we grieve the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony,” the Chapmans told TMZ in a statement.
Zecca has been working alongside Chapman on his bounty hunting team, according to TMZ. He joined the crew after his mother met the bounty hunter, who rose to nationwide fame on “Dog the Bounty Hunter” on A&E.
Since then, Chapman has led a few spin-off shows and made numerous public appearances. He most recently drew nationwide headlines for a homophobic rant in 2023, which came two years after one of his daughters, Bonnie Chapman, called him a racist and a homophobe and accused him of cheating on his first wife, Beth, who died in 2019 from complications due to cancer.
