Driver dies in fiery crash into Long Island Quaker meeting house


A driver died when he crashed into a Long Island Quaker meeting house and his vehicle burst into flames, officials said.

The victim’s white hatchback veered off Northern Blvd. near Shelter Rock Road in Manhasset just before 5:30 a.m. and slammed into the Manhasset Friends Meeting House.

The car burst into flames upon impact, officials said.

The driver, the sole occupant in the car, died at the scene. Their name was not immediately released.

The crash took place just a few feet from the Manhasset Public Library.

Nassau County police closed off all westbound lanes of Northern Blvd. between Onderdonk Ave. and Strathmore Road as they investigated the crash.
