The driver accused of plowing into the front gate outside Jennifer Aniston’s Bel Air home has been identified as a 48-year-old man.
Jimmy Wayne Carwyle was booked Tuesday for felony vandalism in connection with the crash on L.A.’s west side, ABC News reported. In the immediate aftermath, Carwyle was described as a man in his 70s — first by a 911 caller and then again in a police radio broadcast — but what exactly caused the confusion regarding the suspect’s age was not immediately clear.
A private security team managed to subdue Carwyle and detained him until the police arrived on the scene. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment before he was booked.
According to TMZ, he’s being held without bond.
Aniston was reportedly home when the vehicle slammed into her front gate just after noon on Monday, but she was not injured in the chaos.
Police said they’re still working to determine the suspect’s motive, specifically whether he intended to target Emmy-winning Aniston, best known for playing Rachel Green on “Friends.” Authorities previously said the crash appeared to be intentional, but did not provide further details.
An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
