A woman was hospitalized after her car was struck by a NJ Transit train near the Ramsey station in Bergen County early Friday, officials said.
The collision occurred at the Main Street crossing around 5:45 a.m., a NJ Transit spokesperson told the Daily News.
No passengers were aboard the northbound train, which was out of service and being moved from Hoboken to Suffern along the Main-Bergen County line. No crew members were injured in the incident, the spokesperson said.
The driver, whose name has not been released, was the only person in the car. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was reportedly treated for shoulder pain, WABC reported.
Her condition was unclear as of Friday afternoon.
The vehicle has since been towed away from the scene.
Service on the Main-Bergen County Line was not disrupted, NJ Transit said. However, according to the line’s real-time update account on X, the incident resulted in two cancellations and delays of up to 55 minutes in both directions during the morning commute.
Footage captured by a CBS News helicopter shows a white car with severe damage to both its front and rear ends, while the train appeared unscathed.
NJ Transit’s police department is leading ann investigation into the incident, the spokesperson said.
Ramsey is about 25 miles northwest of Midtown Manhattan.
