“Making the Band” alum Dylan John has been arrested for allegedly hitting a man during an altercation on Thursday in North Carolina.
The Brooklyn-born reggae rapper, 46, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor simple assault after authorities say he struck the face of a man with an open-hand at least two times, according to an arrest warrant obtained by TMZ.
He was reportedly released later in the day after posting $500 bond, and is slated to appear in court July 1.

John appeared on Sean “Diddy” Combs’ “Making the Band 2,” back when his former mentor still went by P. Diddy and was looking to create a new hip-hop group. But John didn’t see eye to eye with the Bad Boy Records founder, openly clashing with Diddy over creative differences.
John reportedly blamed the end of his career on a “The Chappelle Show” skit detailing their troubled dynamic.
His arrest came just weeks before his former boss heads to trial on federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges — and a day before two new criminal counts were added to a superseding indictment in Combs’ case.
On Friday, Combs was accused of participating in sex trafficking between 2021 and 2024, in the run-up to his arrest in September. One of the counts includes a new charge of transportation to engage in prostitution.
His trial is scheduled to begin on May 5.
