Ellen DeGeneres has officially left the United States.
In the wake of Trump’s election win, the comedian and her wife Portia de Rossi have moved abroad to their new home in South West, England. The former California residents left the country because they were “very disillusioned” with Trump’s victory in the presidential election and were determined to “get the hell out,” a source told TMZ.
DeGeneres was among several celebrity donors who supported Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign, cutting her a $3,300 check. She also officially endorsed Harris on social media in July writing, “There’s nothing more powerful than a woman whose time has come!! I can’t wait for @KamalaHarris to be our next president.”
The former talk show host plans to list their house in Montecito, California and are still to ironing out details about how much it will go for. Their previous home sold for a whopping whopping $96 million.
DeGeneres stepped out of the spotlight after the demise of her talk show, “The Ellen DeGeneres show” in 2020, following accusations of toxic workplace made against her. The show aired its final episode in May of 2022. In September, she released “For Your Approval” on Netflix, which she says will be her last comedy special.
Degeneres is one of many celebrities planning to leave the country amid Trump’s upcoming second presidency.
